Ms Duong Bich Hanh

Ms Duong Bich Hanh is an anthropologist with extensive knowledge and experience in Southeast Asia and international development. With a strong commitment to gender equality, cultural diversity and human rights, she has been involved in social research and programme management in the areas of heritage preservation and community development since 1994. After seven years in the UNESCO Hanoi Office, she joined the Bangkok Office in May 2016 to manage the culture programme covering the Mekong cluster countries and coordinate a number of regional projects in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific. Ms Hanh is especially interested in promoting the role of culture and cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, in sustainable development, and in ensuring that local communities both participate in and benefit from the protection of their own heritage.
